My buddy Phil just posted a notice about a very clever scam going around in which the scammers send you a check - which will clear. However in cashing the check you are most likely cashing a check that was written by another victim of the scam. Don't be a sucker For a full explanation of the scam (complete with an actual prize letter that is being used to pull new victims into the scam) be sure to read Phil's post. [Read it here]
Aww yeah! After a bitter cold couple of days central Ohio is finally seeing some nice weather. It's fitting that today was such a nice day - seeing as it is officially the first day of spring. The image above is a screen shot of the Weather gadget on my PC's Windows Vista Sidebar. I'm hoping to see a lot more days like like in my gadget as spring really starts to show up. Now I just need to pony up for that new laptop I've been wanting so I can work outside! Donations are always welcome. :)
This past weekend we celebrated one of my favorite holidays - St. Patrick's Day! I've blogged about St. Patty's before, but this post is more to share some pictures of the day's events than anything else. We started the day off by meeting up at Timmy & Julie's place over in Grandview for some several pints of Guinness - and you know how I loves me some Guinness! By mid-afternoon The Buckeyes had moved on to the next round of the NCAA tourney, most of the party guests had arrived, and I had several pints under my belt... so naturally it was time...
Sorry for the lack of updates lately... I've been a bit busy with other stuff. Anyhow, Riley got on my case during last week's game so I figured I better get some updates out here. Lightning vs Got Beer Two weeks ago we faced off with Got Beer and maybe their name was just too much for us to handle, or perhaps we were lazy after our comeback win the week before? Who knows - but we lost! I think the final score was 3-4 in favor of the bad guys. I did have goal #3 in that game and...
I was talking with Phil and Jon earlier today and we got onto the topic of personal finance... specifically the spending habits of married vs. unmarried men. (background: Phil and Jon are both married... I am not.) The general consensus was that the bachelor tends to spend his hard earned scratch ($$$) on completely non-essential items (high-priced tech toys, alcohol paraphernalia, sports memorabilia, etc...) whereas the married man tends to make more conservative purchases. Then to drive the nail home, Phil mentioned the Beer Launcher as one of those items that the bachelor (read: me) would buy, but he won't...
You heard right, after an embarrassing 4-2 loss to The Hood the venerable Team Lightning came back to life with a 1-0 win over Got Beer FC Thurman. I can't remember who had the big goal in the game (sorry team) but I do know that we should have scored at least 4 more. I had two easy shots that I totally choked on... or as Carli would say, I have "pee-pants in the box syndrome". In my opinion the game ball (if we had such a token) should go to our goal keeper, Greg Carlo. In such a low scoring...
